Private Tour From Tokyo To Mount Fuji with Custom Itinerary

4.9 (230 verified reviews)

About This Experience

A private full-day tour to the Fuji region that publishes an unusually clear recommended itinerary with times attached, then lets you adjust it for weather, traffic and season. It runs 10 to 11 hours including travel.

The suggested plan gives you 45 to 60 minutes at the Chureito Pagoda, 45 minutes at Oshino Hakkai's spring-fed ponds and traditional houses, and 45 to 60 minutes at Lake Kawaguchiko for the panoramic views. Hakone highlights can be added if you would rather spread the day across two regions.

This listing is also the most transparent about running costs: fuel, highway tolls and parking are all covered by the headline price. Meals, attraction admissions, the 5th Station entrance fee and any Hakone ropeway or cruise tickets are not — which is worth knowing when you compare it against listings that leave the boundary vague.

What Travelers Say

Rated 4.9/5 by 230 verified GetYourGuide travelers.

Our trip by private van (there were four of us adults) was extremely comfortable. Our guide, Salar, was a great help in putting together a varied and interesting itinerary. He was very flexible and proactive in customizing the trip, taking into account the rainy weather and the many clouds that led us to avoid climbing Mt. Fuji. However, we still had a wonderful day visiting this very green area and taking a speedboat ride on Lake Kawaguchi. A visit to the Sengen Arakura Fuji Shrine with its majestic trees is a must. The colorful Ochi Gardens are also very lovely, an oasis surrounded by greenery where you can also enjoy a good ice cream with flavors inspired by the flowers in the garden! Thanks to Salar, who also took some beautiful photos of us, this day will remain an unforgettable part of our trip to Japan.

The weather did not detract from the great atmosphere – on the contrary: Together, we made the best of it and collected many beautiful impressions and memories. Overall, it was a very nice and varied excursion that we would do again at any time, despite the rainy weather.

Yes, Hakone highlights are an optional extension. It makes for a longer day with more driving, so agree it with the driver at pickup rather than mid-afternoon.

How strictly is the itinerary followed?

Can we bring suitcases if we are changing hotels?
